Sightseeing with BARC

Team Building

BARC explored the historic sites of the University of Copenhagen.

The University of Copenhagen is the second-oldest university in Scandinavia and spans four main campuses located in central Copenhagen. The North Campus houses most of the Faculty of Science, including the Department of Computer Science—where BARC is based. That means that we actually never really go to the original, historic buildings where it all started in 1479.

To change that, a large group of BARC members took part in a team-building activity: a guided tour of the university’s historic grounds. Highlights included the Ceremonial Hall, where the Royal Family attends the annual commemoration, the former rector’s residence, the Magnolia Courtyard, the Munk’s Cellar, and even the old dungeon, once used to detain unruly students. The tour finished in the beautifully preserved old library.

It was a great opportunity to learn more about the heritage of the institution BARC is proud to be part of. To finish off the day, we enjoyed cake and coffee at a nearby café.
