New appointment for Rasmus Pagh
Rasmus Pagh, a core member of BARC since the beginning in 2017, will start as a professor of theoretical computer science at DIKU on December 1, 2020.
Rasmus Pagh comes from a position as professor of at IT University of Copenhagen, where he has worked since 2002 and is internationally recognized for his work on randomized algorithms and their applications. He is particularly interested in applications related to massive data analysis, databases, machine learning, and privacy. Nine students have completed their PhD projects under his supervision, the majority of them in research projects funded by Independent Research Fund Denmark (DFF) and European Research Council (ERC). In 2019-2020 he was a visiting faculty researcher at Google, working on space-efficient machine learning and on differential privacy.
I am looking forward to being part of Copenhagen University, and hope to help making BARC even more visible within the university. The large number of talented young researchers, in combination with strong, experienced faculty, makes BARC one of the best places in the world to do research in algorithms theory. I think we are in an excellent position to do research with even higher impact in the coming years, says Rasmus.
We at BARC at looking forward to increased collaboration and groundbreaking research!
