Ioana Bercea joins BARC
BARC welcomes Postdoc Ioana Bercea to the team.
BARC welcomes new postdoc Ioana who joined the team on May 1, 2020 and will be working at ITU with her host Tore Husfeldt and others here at BARC.
Ioana's most recent work focuses on developing fundamental data structures related to the membership problem, such as dictionaries and (Bloom) filters. The goal is to employ mathematical techniques to obtain fast and efficient data structures that come with strong theoretical guarantees on their performance. She is looking forward to learning from and working alongside the BARC community.
Before joining BARC, Ioana was a postdoc at Tel-Aviv University, working with Guy Even. She obtained her PhD degree in 2018 from the University of Maryland, under the supervision of Samir Khuller. Previous to that, she graduated with a BSc in Mathematics (Honors) and Computer Science from the University of Chicago.
In her free time, Ioana likes to read and catch up with her friends from around the world.
