BARC welcomes Jakob Nordström
BARC welcomes Associate Professor Jakob Nordström to DIKU.
On 1 June 2019, Jakob Nordström started as associate professor in the Algorithms and Complexity section at DIKU. Jakob does research in computational complexity theory, trying to prove that different combinatorial optimization problems are impossible to solve efficiently with contemporary algorithms, but also works on developing new algorithms that can go beyond the current state of the art. His research is mainly funded by a Consolidator Grant from the Swedish Research Council (VR) and (joint with Johan Håstad and Per Austrin) a Research Project with High Scientific Potential Grant from the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, and, starting in 2020, by a grant from the Independent Research Fund Denmark (DFF); Beyond Satisfaction: Towards an Understanding of Real-World Efficient Computation.
Jakob has a PhD from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, he was postdoc at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and from 2011-2019 he has been affiliated to KTH Royal Institute of Technology as associate professor.
At BARC we look forward to collaborating with our new neighbor in the AC-section.
