WAVE 2026

BARC is proud to announce the annual WAVE Workshop (Women in Algorithms, Venture into Exploration), which will be held at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, on Friday, September 11th, 2026.

The WAVE workshop is an initiative brought to life by the women of BARC, aiming to inspire and support more women in joining the field of Theoretical Computer Science (TCS).

In 2025 we hosted the first workshop and thanks to our generous sponsors, BARC, University of Copenhagen, Carlsberg Foundation, ELLIIT, and VILLUM FONDEN, we are able to welcome everybody again this year!

The workshop will feature both technical talks and a panel discussion focused on Theoretical Computer Science (TCS). Additionally, this year we are also including a student-led poster session to p

rovide opportunities for participants to share their work and receive feedback in a supportive environment. 

We have invited some amazing speakers and panellists to join us. Participants of all genders are equally encouraged to attend, as all topics discussed will be relevant to everyone in the field. Our panel will feature both female and male panellists who will reflect on the importance of collective efforts across the community in addressing and navigating different challenges. 

The WAVE Workshop offers a fantastic opportunity to meet great people and get inspired. Registration is free but mandatory. International attendees are warmly welcomed. Thanks to the support from ELLIIT, we are able to provide travel support for participants from universities in Sweden.
